About

I have spent my career upholding the law, managing budgets, and serving the people of Georgia with integrity. Now I am running to make sure our state government does the same by protecting taxpayers, defending freedom, and keeping Cherokee County the best place to live, work, and raise a family.

Personal Profile

Born and raised in Canton, Bill Fincher has spent his life protecting Georgia families and standing up for what’s right. Bill’s roots in Cherokee County run deep. His father served the community as a School Board member, Mayor of Canton, and Chair of the County Commission as well as a State Senator for the district. Bill’s own commitment to public service follows in that same family legacy of leadership, stewardship, and dedication to Cherokee County’s long-term welfare.

A graduate of Cherokee High School, Bill earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science & History from Mercer University, then went on to attend the Woodrow Wilson College of Law before beginning a lifelong career in public service.

Bill began his career as a probation and parole officer in Ellijay, where he met his wife, Deanie, a local school teacher. After law school, Bill served as a Special Agent with the FBI in Chicago, working on major-case investigations before returning home to care for his mother after his father’s passing. Back home, he joined DA Lewis R. Slaton’s office in the Atlanta Judicial Circuit, where he worked nine years as a prosecutor before beginning a 23-year career as an Assistant DA for the Appalachian Judicial Circuit.

With a career spanning more than 35 years, Bill earned a reputation as a man of faith who operates with integrity and fairness. He understands that true public safety includes both justice and rehabilitation, supporting accountability courts that provide structure and discipline to help people rebuild their lives, while ensuring dangerous offenders face the full weight of the law.

Bill and Deanie have been married 47 years. Deanie is a retired educator from Cherokee County who spent 36 years in the school system. They have one adult son, Jacob and the family are active members of Canton First Methodist Church. They are proud supporters of History Cherokee, the Cherokee Chorale, and the Falany Performing Arts Center.

Political Profile

Bill Fincher is a tested and true public servant, not a fresh face seeking a political stepping stone. His candidacy is a continuation of a lifetime of service focused on public protection, community stability, and problem-solving.

Bill Fincher is a listener and a problem-solver who brings people together to get things done. Whether serving on church committees, leading civic organizations, or working alongside community leaders, Bill has built a record of integrity, collaboration, and steady leadership. His years as an Assistant District Attorney honed his skills as a negotiator, balancing tough decision-making with the ability to work cooperatively toward fair, principled outcomes. Bill is ready to be a catalyst for common-sense solutions that keep Cherokee County strong, affordable, and safe.

As a Christian conservative and lifelong public servant, Bill believes in small government, personal responsibility, and protecting the freedoms that make Georgia strong. He will defend the Constitution, protect pro-life policies, and safeguard the Second Amendment. Bill will work to reduce costs, lower taxes, and keep the government operating within its means and its intended role. A former law enforcement professional and longtime prosecutor, Bill will back the blue and strengthen public safety. He will also champion Cherokee County’s excellent school system while expanding opportunities in trade and technical education to prepare the next generation for success.
